Installation Location:

When mounting the Door-Aid on the push side of the door, the unit should be in a vertical position with the shaft facing down on the hinge side of the door. The shaft should be in a position to accept the actuator arm centered on the shaft and parallel to the header of the door. The actuator arm for the unit should be positioned below and parallel to the header of the door opening. The arm will ride freely on the top rail without any type of attachment.

Approved Manufacturers:

The following manufacturers are approved vendors: "Door-Aid Corporation" Other manufacturers shall be permitted to the extent that they can supply products equal to the operational effectiveness of the unit specified.

System Operation:

The unit shall be a self-contained unit operating from buttons or beams both on the inside and exterior of the door opening. In addition to the unit there shall be a self-contained door closer either on top of the jamb or in the standard location. The door closer shall not be tied to or connected to the unit. The unit shall be totally free and independent from any attachment to the door, to be only physically attached at the top of the hinged frame of the specific door opening.

The actuator arm shall have a rubber-type ball bearing roller mounted at the end that will ride over the surface of the top rail of the door. The actuator arm will apply pressure to the surface of the top rail of the door. The actuator arm will move at a constant predetermined speed and stop if it meets any obstruction while opening. When its cycle is completed, then the closer will close the door.

When opening, the door shall open slowly in compliance with the ADA low energy door opening guidelines. The hold open delay shall be adjustable for a 0-60 second period to comply with the needs of the location. The door shall close at a speed of three to four seconds, the precise time to be required by the specifications of the door closer. If there is an obstruction within the opening at the hold open or in the closing mode, the unit shall recycle by holding and/or reopening by pressing the activator button.

Inspection:

The operational effectiveness of the unit shall be site tested and verified by the general contractor. The general contractor shall have present the factory representative and the vendor for such tests. Any operational deficiencies of the unit shall be corrected at the time of inspection by the general contractor to bring such unit to the level and safety required by the manufacturer.
